Beautiful, healthy lawns require more than simply mowing and fertilizing.  Cool-season and warm-season grasses require similar activities, but at different times, to be effective.  This free class will cover: the difference between cool-season and warm-season grasses and what they require; value of soil testing; fertilizing, weed control, aerating and watering.  Even if someone else takes care of your lawn, this seminar will enable you to work with your lawn service more effectively.

Sustainable gardening is creating an environment where desirable plants and insects coexist.  It involves: enriching and feeding the soil, not simply the plant; fostering healthy plants that resist pests; encouraging diversity by using and allowing natural processes; deterring harmful insects and diseases. This class will explain how to do this, while eliminating/minimizing chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

While many of your shrubs may have already flowered (and others, like roses, will bloom later), they all need to be prepared for Atlanta’s summer heat and possible lack of rain.  If they have grown too large for their location, they may need to be pruned at the right time and done the right way. This class will cover mulching, weed control, watering, fertilizing, pest control and pruning (where, when and how).
